Uber Fancy

We’re pretty excited around here about our new Elevate partnership with Uber. If you don’t know what Uber is, it’s the on-demand driver service in a host of worldwide cities that allows you to request a car through an iPhone or Android app to take you where you want to go. It competes with hailing a taxicab which can be tricky and unpredictable, as well as ordering a much more expensive, formal “car service.”

I love requesting an Uber car when I’m with friends who have never heard of the service. Once, leaving a restaurant in New York City, I ordered one to go to another part of town and an Escalade showed up to take us away. Making me feel like a total baller. But the truth is, the cost of an Uber ride is only a little more than a cab, and it does offer a few options – from a more basic hybrid car (called UberX), up to the SUV size. And it’s quick — I’ve never waited more than 10 minutes for an Uber to show up, even in heavy NYC traffic.

To celebrate our new partnership, Uber is giving new riders 800 Elevate points just for signing up here. We’re also giving one person a week the chance to win a roundtrip flight on us and $500 in Uber ride credits (which will go a very long way) in our “Ride With Us, Roll With Uber” sweepstakes that ends October 2. Enter through our Facebook app here for a chance to win.

We’d love to know how you roll to or from the airport. Log your vote in this week’s poll below.
