Just a moment, please.
Virgin America has partnered with the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) to participate in TSA Pre✓™, an initiative allowing pre-screened trusted travelers to breeze through expedited security on domestic flights. Virgin America guests enrolled in U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler programs are also eligible to participate in Pre✓™ when traveling with Virgin America. Learn more about TSA Pre✓™ below and find out how to enjoy the benefits, plus check out our FAQs for more information on Virgin America's participation.
Please note: The TSA manages and operates the TSA Pre✓™ pre-screening initiative as outlined below, and may modify the associated features and terms at any time. Visit www.tsa.gov/tsa-precheck for additional information about TSA Pre✓™ expedited screening.
What is TSA Pre✓™?
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has developed a pre-screening process called TSA Pre✓™, which allows qualifying frequent flyers on participating airlines and members of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler programs to enjoy expedited screening benefits and access established TSA Pre✓™ lanes during their domestic travel.
Eligible participants can use dedicated screening lanes and take advantage of screening benefits that include leaving on shoes, light outerwear, and belts, as well as leaving laptops and 3-1-1 compliant liquids in carry-on bags.
How it works:TSA Pre✓™ provides expedited screening benefits for guests traveling within the United States by allowing them to ease through security without removing the following items:
Plus, passengers 12 years of age and younger are allowed through TSA Pre✓™ lanes with eligible guests.
By participating in the initiative, you will give Virgin America permission to share certain information with the TSA Secure Flight System, including:
After reviewing this information, the TSA determines if you’re eligible for expedited screening, and if so, eligibility information will be embedded in the barcode on your boarding pass. The TSA will read the barcode at designated checkpoints, where you will be referred to a dedicated lane to undergo expedited screening. However, please remember that the TSA will incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport, so Virgin America cannot guarantee expedited screening for every flight—even if you’re participating in the initiative.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection Trusted Travelers:
U.S. citizens currently enrolled in a U.S. Customs & Border Protection (CBP) Trusted Traveler program, including Global Entry, are automatically eligible to participate in TSA Pre✓™ on Virgin America.
If you’re a participant in a Customs and Border Protection Program (CBP) and an Elevate member, add your PASS ID number to your Elevate profile so we can automatically send it to TSA when you make future reservations on Virgin America:
If you’re a participant in a Customs and Border Protection Program (CBP) but not an Elevate member, you can enter your CBP-assigned PASS ID number in the ‘Known Traveler Number’ field when booking your flight.
Invited Elevate Members:
Virgin America will contact selected Elevate members* with a personal invitation to opt-in to participate in TSA Pre✓™ when travelling with Virgin America. Invited Elevate members can opt-in to participate by updating your Elevate profile:
Please note: It may take up to 24hrs for your opted-in status to update in any existing reservations with Virgin America. Once opted-in, Virgin America will identify you as a TSA Pre✓™ participant when submitting passenger reservation information to TSA’s Secure Flight system.
* Opt-in invitation recipients must be U.S. citizens and active Elevate members to participate.
TSA Pre✓™ Application Program (coming Fall 2013):
Starting later this year, the TSA will add a new process allowing more U.S. citizens to enroll in TSA Pre✓™. U.S. citizens will be able to apply online and visit an enrollment site to provide identification and fingerprints. Click here to learn more about this new initiative.
Notification of TSA Pre✓™ Eligibility
Recently TSA approved several methods to notify passengers of their eligibility for TSA Pre✓™. Participating Virgin America guests will now see a TSA Pre✓™ notification on select Virgin America boarding passes. TSA has also recently launched an initiative to increase the volume of passengers transiting Pre✓™ and will use Secure Flight Data to independently determine eligibility. These guests will also receive the TSA Pre✓™ indicator on their boarding passes.
Please note: If TSA Pre✓™ is unavailable at your departure airport, you should proceed to the standard security lane.

If you check-in and print your boarding pass at virginamerica.com, your printed boarding pass will include a TSA Pre✓™ logo indicating your eligibility for TSA Pre✓™ expedited screening benefits.

Where is TSA Pre✓™ available?
TSA Pre✓™ expedited screening lanes are currently available at the following Virgin America airport locations. Additional airports may be added in the future:
All hours of operation are quoted in local airport time. Please plan your travel accordingly as all TSA Pre✓™ lanes hours of operation are subject to change based on operational commitments and flight schedules.
Please note: TSA will always incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening in order to retain a certain element of randomness to prevent terrorists from gaming the system. In addition, individuals who commit certain violations of TSA regulations, such as interference with security operations, access control violations, providing false or fraudulent documents, making a bomb threat, or bringing a firearm, explosive, or other prohibited items to an airport or on board an aircraft are likely to be denied expedited screening for a period of time. The duration of disqualification for expedited screening will depend upon the seriousness of the offense.
