Virgin America Introduces New Menu And Upscale Cocktails For Fall
California Carrier with First Touch-screen Seatback Food Ordering Introduces New Menu
San Francisco — Oct. 16, 2008 — Virgin America, the only U.S. carrier with a touch-screen seatback food ordering system, today unveiled a new menu with a variety of healthy and fresh meal options, as well as a selection of upscale new on-board cocktails. All menu items are complimentary in First Class and Main Cabin Select and are available for purchase in the Main Cabin.
“As the only airline based in California, high-end, organic and gourmet food is part of our company DNA. As a result we are constantly trying to inject this sensibility into our in-flight menu,” said Virgin America Senior Vice President of People, In-Flight and Guest Services Frances Fiorillo. “We’re excited to introduce a new Fall menu and on-board cocktail selection that does just that, and that guests can enjoy at any time during a flight with a touch of their seatback Red™ screens.”
Virgin America is the only U.S. airline to offer a “food button,” allowing guests the freedom and convenience to order whatever they want to eat or drink during a flight — either with a touch of the Red™ video touch-screen at every seat or through the handheld remote control in every armrest.
Virgin America offers five meal options in the Main Cabin available for purchase via the Red™ In-flight Entertainment system. With just a swipe of a credit card through the in-seat ordering system, guests can enjoy the following new menu selections on Virgin America flights.
All cabins, complimentary in Main Cabin Select and First Class
Due to the popularity of these items, an expanded upscale cocktail menu is now available on all Virgin America flights. Virgin America will now offer shaken cocktails for the price of $8 in the Main Cabin and complimentary in Main Cabin Select and First Class.
The new cocktail bar selection includes a Cosmopolitan, a Mojito, and a Margarita — served ready-to-order by our in-flight team members. Virgin America continues to offer the popular KARMA, California Brut sparkling wine on all its flights for $10.
And to restore energy in-flight, Virgin America is now also offering Rockstar Energy Drink and Eboost Energy Tablets, both available for $3 in the Main Cabin.
