VIRGIN AMERICA IS OFFICIAL AIRLINE OF SAN FRANCISCO PRIDE
San Francisco’s Hometown Airline to Fly Guests in Style from Across the U.S. to the Nation’s Largest LGBT Event
San Francisco — June 24, 2014 — Virgin America for the seventh year in a row is proud to partner with SF Pride as the “Official Domestic Airline of San Francisco Pride.” 2014 marks the 44th Anniversary of the San Francisco Pride Parade and Celebration and Virgin America’s teammates will be bringing the airline’s signature Virgin Red to this year’s “Color Our World with Pride” theme. Joining Virgin America’s parade contingent this year will be American Idol season nine alum and #VXSafetyDance Safety Video star, Todrick Hall. The YouTube phenomenon known for his video hits including The Wizard of Ahhs, Beauty and the Beat, and Mean Gurlz, will be on hand to help parade revelers “buckle up, to get down” with more than 200 of the airline’s teammates, friends, and family.
“Every year since our launch, it has been an honor to sponsor San Francisco Pride and to provide our teammates with an opportunity to participate in this world-class event," said Frances Fiorillo, SVP of People and In-flight Service. "As San Francisco’s hometown airline, we feel that it’s vital to celebrate the diversity of the city and support the members of our LGBT community. We invite everyone traveling to SF Pride from across the nation to arrive in fabulous style this year by kicking off their journey onboard Virgin America."
As the “Official Domestic Airline of San Francisco Pride” Virgin America welcomes guests from all over the country en route to the festivities to fly with selfie-flattering moodlit cabins, fleetwide WiFi, and power outlets at every seat -- perfect for guests who want to use geo-locating dating apps onboard -- and a seat-to-seat delivery and chat system that lets guests make friends with other SF Pride attendees at 35,000 feet.
Pride supporters who can’t attend this year’s event still have an opportunity to support San Francisco Pride and the non-profit organizations they sponsor by applying for the new Virgin America Visa Signature® Card at http://www.VirginAmericaVisa.com/SFpride. For each person approved for the stylish new card by July 13, 2014, $50 will be donated to San Francisco Pride courtesy of Virgin America*.
“Having Virgin America as a partner is a perfect fit for San Francisco Pride,” said George Ridgely, Executive Director of San Francisco Pride. “Not only can we provide first class treatment to flyers traveling from across the U.S. for our event but this support is key to giving us the ability to back the more than sixty non-profit community organizations involved in helping anti-bullying efforts, housing advocacy, people living with HIV/AIDS, homeless LGBT youth, and other important issues to our community.”
With top-notch guest service, beautiful design, and a variety of innovative amenities, Virgin America has earned a host of industry awards since launching service in 2007. Virgin America offers guests sleek, tech-forward aircraft cabins with custom-designed seating, fleetwide in-flight WiFi, signature moodlighting, power outlets near every seat, and the Red™ in-flight entertainment system. The Red™ platform offers guests on every Virgin America flight their own seatback screen, with 25 films, live TV, interactive Google Maps, videogames, a 6,000 song library, and an on-demand menu, which allows flyers to order a cocktail or snack from their seatback any time during a flight. In addition to a Main Cabin that offers custom-designed leather seating with a deeper, more comfortable pitch, the airline's First Class offers white leather seating with 55 inches of pitch, 165 degrees of recline, and lumbar massagers. The carrier's Main Cabin Select option offers 38-inches of pitch, free food and cocktails, an all-access pass to media content, dedicated overhead bins, and priority check-in/boarding.
