In addition to doing everything it can today operationally to reduce its footprint, Virgin America is also an advocate of longer–term solutions. Virgin America has partnered with leaders in the sustainability community to find new and better ways to improve our environmental efforts and reduce our footprint.
The Virgin Group, a minority investor in Virgin America, re-invests 100% of its profits from Virgin America and other transport businesses into renewable fuels and resource efficiency businesses and research in order to combat climate change.

A multi–year partnership as California’s airline, Virgin America supports CSPF projects across the state via in–kind donations. Travelers can donate to CSPF via the airline’s Red in–flight entertainment platform.
Virgin America is a proud member of CERES, a leading coalition of investors, environmental groups and public interest organizations that works with companies to address sustainability challenges.
As a new member of the SAFUG effective in 2010, Virgin America intends to see bio–fuels make up 10 percent of its fuel mix by 2020, and will push the government and industry forward towards this goal.
Virgin America partners with Carbonfund.org to offer guests the ability to offset the carbon footprint of their flight, as well as to offset our headquarters footprint each year. The airline selected offset projects that focus on U.S. based carbon emissions reductions. As with all projects supported by Carbonfund.org, the projects are independently validated and verified. The Climate Registry is a nonprofit collaboration among North American states, provinces, territories and Native Sovereign Nations that sets consistent and transparent standards to calculate, verify and publicly report greenhouse gas emissions into a single registry.
