What features can I find in the Virgin America Mobile app?

The Virgin America Mobile App, as with virginamerica.com, was co-designed by Brooklyn-based Digital Product Design and Development shop Work + Co.

  • Fast & easy: the app was built to make the travel experience – from check-in and beyond – as quick and easy as possible. You will be able to instantly check-in, access your mobile boarding pass, receive real-time flight alerts, check your Elevate points balance and more – with just a few taps on the go.

  • An app that gets you: This app isn’t one-size-fits-all. It will store your personal information, including your favorite city to fly to, in order to streamline the user experience and provide personalized flight deals in your favorite city.

  • An app you’ll want to open: Building on the unique design of virginamerica.com, the app offers a simple, fresh and fun design. Those cheeky avatars from virginamerica.com will also be there to guide you along the way.

  • A soundtrack for your journey: We’ve always been about making your trip about more than just getting from Point A to Point B, so we’ve teamed up with Spotify for a first-of-its kind trip soundtrack feature for an airline app – so you can get inspired for your trip by streaming one of our complimentary city “Mood Lists”. Simply click the Spotify button after you check-in to hear some tunes that will put you in the right state of mind for your destination.

I can't find the app when I search for it on the App Store or Google Play?

As a new app in the App Store and Google Play, it can take time for the Virgin America app to rank in the search results. Please click here to download the iOS app or here for the Android version.

Can I book my flight using the app?

We've made some recent changes to our app as we join forces with Alaska Airlines. For all bookings select "Book" in the app which navigates to our fully responsive mobile website. Our mobile site allows you to search all flights available across our full network of Virgin America and Alaska Airlines destinations.

Will I be able to book multi-party bookings on the app?

For booking multi-party bookings, please visit VirginAmerica.com. To quickly navigate to our fully responsive mobile website for further assistance while still in the app, select "Book” while in the app. Our mobile site allows you to search all flights available across our full network of Virgin America and Alaska Airlines destinations.

Can I book a flight using a promo code on the app?

I have recently booked a flight and would like to upgrade to Main Cabin Select of First Class but can’t seem to complete this in the app, can you help?

To upgrade using the app, it must be during the check-in flow and only within 24-hours of the flight. You cannot upgrade on the app prior to the 24-hours before the flight. Of course you can visit VirginAmerica.com under the “Manage” travel section and purchase your upgrade at any time prior to the flight.

I’m having trouble checking in for my flight on the app – what do I do?

You can also continue to use our fully responsive mobile website, virginamerica.com for checking in and managing all of our travel needs.

During the Check in process I tried to change my seat to a window seat, but the seat map in the app did not allow me to select one?

Within 24-Hours of your flight, the app has a known issue that will not allow you to change to or select a window seat in the app. Please visit VirginAmerica.com on desktop or on our mobile site to complete this window seat selection. We are sorry for the inconvenience and we are working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. 

How do I change/cancel my flight on the app?

At this early stage in the development of our app, you will need to make changes or cancel your flight on our website, VirginAmerica.com. When in the app, if you select “Manage” then you’ll see your upcoming flights and can select “Change/Cancel Flight on the Web” to take you to our fully responsive mobile website.

I have upcoming flights that I added to the "Manage" section of the app but when I checked back in the app, they were no longer listed?

Please login to your Elevate account on the app to view all of your upcoming flights. If you don't see a specific flight, you may need to add your Elevate number to the flight to view it on the app. Or if it's not tied to an Elevate number then you can search for your flight again in the Manage section.  For more information on linking your Elevate number, please check this out: http://virginamerica.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/264/.

How do I enable push notifications for flight alerts?

In the onboarding process or settings section, you’ll see the option to allow us to send real-time notifications.

How do I check the flight status for a flight I am not scheduled to travel on?

To check a flight that you are not scheduled to travel on, please visit the overflow menu which is denoted by the “…” at the bottom of the app. Then you can select “Flight Status” from the overflow menu.

How do I find my full Elevate Account information, points activity and profile?

To review your full Elevate Account information, please visit VirginAmerica.com. To quickly navigate to our fully responsive mobile website for further assistance while still in the app, select “FAQs” in our overflow menu which is denoted by the “…” at the bottom of the app

How will I know if I have TSA Pre™ on my flight?

TSA Pre✓™ information will be display on your boarding pass in the app if you are eligible or have purchased TSA Pre✓™.
